FORT COLLINS — Firefighters rescued a man and his Labrador retriever Saturday afternoon after the pair were trapped in a house fire.

Poudre Fire Authority officials said the man was trapped in an upstairs bathroom of the home while attempting to rescue animals in the house.

Firefighters got the man out of the house and used infrared technology to spot an unconscious Labrador retriever, which they took from the house.

The man, who suffered minor injuries, was transported to Poudre Valley Hospital.

Ambulance crews revived the dog, which is expected to fully recover.

The fire at 1318 Woodcrest Court was reported at 1:42 p.m. Fire officials said initial reports were that the fire started in the garage.
