Wall Street strategists keep getting more optimistic. This past week, Goldman Sachs’ David Kostin raised his year-end target for the S&P 500 to 1,060 from 940, and Credit Suisse’s Andrew Garthwaite boosted his to 1,050 from 920. The week earlier, Barclays strategist Barry Knapp raised his target to 930 from 875.
A note of caution: Strategists aren’t calling for a smooth ride. Garthwaite says we may only be halfway through the first “V” in an upward- leaning “W”-shaped recovery.
