A special Internet course through which prospective hunters can obtain their Hunter Education Card is being offered by the Colorado Division of Wildlife. Anyone can take the course, but participants are required to attend two sessions in person in Durango.
The online course is offered as a convenience to those who have been unable to take a regular hunter education class. However, the online course is not a shortcut. Prospective hunters should expect to spend about 12 hours studying the material. The final sections of the course, to be taken in person in Durango, include a written exam Aug. 7 and a live-fire test with guns Aug. 8. Both tests must be passed to obtain the card.
Preregistration is required. Contact Patt Dorsey at the DOW at patt.dorsey@state.co.us; or by calling 970-375-6770.
