WASHINGTON — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton stood fast Sunday behind the administration’s readiness to engage with foes like Iran and North Korea.
Insisting Washington remained open to dialogue with Tehran, Clinton declined to reveal specifics of a possible “defense umbrella” she mentioned as a means of protecting Mideast allies.
She also said the Obama administration viewed Russia as a “great power,” despite Vice President Joe Biden’s recent comments of its weaknesses.
“They have questions about our policies, and we have questions about some of theirs,” she said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
