DENVER—Colorado lawmakers are asking the public for their recommendations on how to deal with the state’s budget crisis.

Legislators invited civic leaders including former U.S. Sen. Hank Brown, former state Sen. Norma Anderson and former state House Speaker Andrew Romanoff to offer their suggestions on Wednesday.

They also plan to take public testimony.

Ritter says his administration is working with lawmakers and others to cut $400 million and will release the plan in August.
