Wheat Ridge police believe that a 31-year-old Denver man who used a chat line to meet women may have victimized a number of those he met.

The man, identified as Carlos Maes, was arrested in Denver on July 8 in connection with the kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman he met on “Live Links,” a live chat line where multiple people can dial into a chat room and talk.

According to investigators, the woman gave Maes her phone number. He called her from his cellphone, and they agreed to meet at the Village Inn restaurant in Wheat Ridge.

Once at the restaurant, the woman said Maes started to kiss her. She told investigators she pushed him away, telling him “No.”

Maes then picked up the woman, put her in the cab of his truck and then drove her to an apartment complex near a greenbelt and sexually assaulted her.

Due to the nature of the crime, police believe there may be other victims who have had contact with the suspect known only as “Carlos” in the chat room.

Anybody who knows Carlos Maes is asked to contact Wheat Ridge police at 303-237-2220 and ask for Detective Bowman.
