The Weld County Sheriff’s Office is probing a series of all-terrain-vehicle thefts in rural Weld, where 24 ATVs have been swiped in the past seven months.

The pace of the thefts has increased in the past two months, including several in a rural area near Greeley.

The Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers, is seeking the assistance of the public in stopping the thefts. Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and filing of charges.

Investigators say that the thefts have generally occurred between U.S. 85 and Weld County Road 49, south of Road 48 but north of Road 40.

The Sheriff’s Office urges ATV owners to secure their vehicles when not in use; remove the keys and store them in a different location; record the VIN, serial number or any other personal markings; and take photos of the vehicles.
