A man killed Tuesday night in the eastbound lane of East 120th Avenue in Thornton was identified today as 22-year-old Mark Hubler.
Adams County Coroner Jim Hibbard said that Hubler was a transient who spent most of his time living in areas around Aurora and Thornton.
According to Thornton police investigators, a witness said that Hubler walked into the eastbound center lane of the 3800 block of East 120th Avenue from the south curb at about 10:50 p.m.
There, said a witness, Hubler placed a dark jacket on the ground before lying down on the jacket in the roadway.
The witness immediately called for emergency assistance but before emergency personnel could arrive, Hubler was hit by one or more vehicles.
None stopped.
Hibbard said that Hubler died from injuries sustained from being run over.
Thornton police today issued a plea for witnesses who saw the incident to call the Thornton police tip line at 720-977-5069 or the Thornton police traffic investigation unit at 720-977-5124.
