BROOMFIELD — The company working to expand Broomfield’s overcrowded jail told city officials the project will cost $1.2 million less than expected.
Haselden Construction said the maximum cost for the jail expansion will now be $10.9 million when it is completed September 2010. Work on the jail is expected to start this month. The expansion means the jail will have 218 beds for inmates.
Currently there are 80 beds, but the jail is often overcrowded.
