BERTHOUD — Authorities say a 57-year-old Littleton man has died after being thrown from his motorbike at a dirt track near Berthoud.

Weld County sheriff’s spokesman Shane Scofield says Jerry Penney may have been thrown from his motorbike during a jump Saturday afternoon. Authorities says Penney was wearing a helmet at the time.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident Saturday was the second recent biking fatality at the Valley Dirt Riders Track near Berthoud, about 45 miles north of Denver. Twenty-five-year old Anthony Hayes of Evans died Monday from injuries he suffered in a crash July 25.
