PHOENIX — Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon Webb has elected to have arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder.

“We support his decision to have surgery,” Diamondbacks executive vice president and general manager Josh Byrnes said. “Obviously, we exhausted every other course of treatment.”

The surgery will be done today in Arlington, Texas, by Dr. Keith Meister, the team physician for the Texas Rangers.

Webb has missed 99 games after being placed on the disabled list after making one start, receiving a no-decision in the season opener against the Rockies.

The 2006 Cy Young Award winner is 87-62 with a 3.27 ERA in 199 games in seven seasons.

Brewers’ Hart to have appendectomy.

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Corey Hart was scheduled to undergo an appendectomy Sunday night.

The Brewers said Hart will go on the 15-day disabled list and be replaced by Bill Hall, who will be recalled from Triple-A Nashville.

Hart complained of stomach and side pains Saturday night after going hitless in three at-bats with a walk during the Brewers’ 4-2 loss to the Padres. When Hart came to Petco Park on Sunday, the pain persisted, and he was examined by a doctor.

Mora upset with benching.

Disgruntled third baseman Melvin Mora lashed out at Baltimore Orioles manager Dave Trembley on Sunday after being benched for the third time in four games.

“I don’t appreciate the disrespect, because I’ve been playing hurt for a guy who won’t respect you. I don’t deserve it,” the 37-year-old Mora said.

Mora, a two-time all-star, is batting .256 with three homers and 27 RBIs.

Footnotes.

The Rangers placed second baseman Ian Kinsler on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 29, with a strained left hamstring.

• Dodgers right-hander Chad Billingsley’s status for his next start is uncertain after he left Sunday night’s game against the Braves in Atlanta with a cramp in his right hamstring.

• Third baseman Casey Blake didn’t play for the Dodgers after injuring his left hand Saturday night.
