PAONIA, Colo.—A fire has destroyed both of Paonia’s ambulances.
Emergency responders had to get an ambulance from a nearby town to make sure the western Colorado town is covered.
Police and firefighters in the town about 220 miles southwest of Denver were sent Thursday to a fire at a garage that housed the two ambulances. Firefighters put out the fire in about a half hour, but couldn’t save the vehicles.
The ambulances were part of the volunteer North Fork Ambulance Association, which also serves Crawford and Hotchkiss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
