NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION: Presented Sumit Agar wal, an assistant professor of chemical engineering at the Colorado School of Mines, with a Faculty Early Career Development Program award for a project titled “Molecular Perspectives of Gas-Surface Reactions during Growth of Thin Film Nanostructures.” The project is funded for five years under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

CASTLE ROCK FOUNDATION: Named John Jackson executive director of the Glendale-based foundation that makes grants to charitable organizations that promote America’s founding principles. Jackson replaces Sally Rippey, who also heads the Adolph Coors Foundation.

CORPORATION FOR ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT: Henry Red Cloud, founder of Lakota Solar Enterprises and partner of Trees, Water & People, has been recognized as a 2009 Innovative Idea Champion.

WORKFORCE INSIGHT: Announced that Paula Jones has joined the company as a health-care strategist.

THE OHIO CENTER FOR BROADCASTING: Appointed Amy Nigrini Faucher as admissions/ sales coordinator at the radio and TV training center in Lakewood.

KIDS IN NEED OF DENTISTRY: Appointed Sally Walker as associate director. The nonprofit also named Anil Idiculla, Falona Glenn and Cara Lohmeyer to the board of directors.
