ANAHEIM, Calif. — Troy Percival visited his teammates before Tuesday night’s game with the Angels, and the Rays closer sounded every bit like someone who has thrown his last pitch in a major-league game.

“I don’t think you’re retired until the paperwork’s in. But it’s safe to say as of right now, I don’t see that I’m going to be able to throw a whole lot,” said Percival, who hasn’t thrown in more than three weeks because of tendinitis in his right shoulder. “I still wish I was out there playing, but at least my mind is clear that I just can’t physically do it.”

Percival is eighth on the career saves list with 358.

Schoeneweis goes on DL

PHOENIX — Scott Schoeneweis has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by Arizona because of depression, less than three moths after his wife was found dead at their home.

The right-hander spent three weeks on the bereavement list after his wife, Gabrielle, was found dead May 20. A cause of death has not been made public. Since returning June 9, Schoeneweis has given up 15 earned runs in nine innings.

Arizona recalled former Highlands Ranch High School left- hander Daniel Schlereth from Double-A Mobile.
