VAIL — The search for two people last seen hiking toward the 14,005- foot summit of Mount of the Holy Cross near Vail is set to resume this morning.
Eagle County sheriff’s officials say the hikers were last seen about 3:30 p.m. Monday at about 13,500 feet.
Searchers started looking for them Tuesday morning after another hiker reported that the pair hadn’t returned to their campsite.
The search ended for the day at 5 p.m.
Sheriff’s officials say the Colorado National Guard High Altitude Aviation Training Center will assist by dropping search teams into the area and by searching from the air.
