Clint Barmes did something Wednesday he hadn’t since July 21. The second baseman recorded a hit other than a home run. Barmes singled twice and doubled. His four hits in his previous 58 at-bats all left the park.

The Rockies are 12-5 when Seth Smith leads off. Smith singled and scored in the first inning.
Roster shuffle.
To make room for reliever Adam Eaton on the 40-man roster, the Rockies transferred Alan Embree to the 60-day disabled list. Embree will still be eligible to pitch in mid-September if his broken right leg heals sufficiently.
