Eaton worked three innings, allowing two runs. With reliever Juan Rincon, out with elbow stiffness, eligible to come off the disabled list next week, Eaton made a statement. “He was impressive, showed that maybe he’s more than just a longman out there,” pitching coach Bob Apodaca said.

Dexter Fowler was given a day to rest his bruised left knee after collecting four hits Thursday. Fowler said the leg is improving, but it’s going to be a bit before he’s 100 percent.
