NORTHGLENN, Colo.—Police say a wrong-way driver was killed and three other people were injured in a 10-vehicle accident on a north Denver freeway.

Northglenn police have identified the driver as 48-year-old David Ulwelling of Broomfield. He died at the scene.

The three people injured in the accident have been released from the hospital. Their names weren’t released.

A portion of northbound Interstate 25 was closed for nearly five hours after the Monday night collision, reopening at about midnight.

Police say a Jeep Liberty driven by Ulwelling was headed south in the northbound lanes in suburban Northglenn shortly after 7 p.m. when it ran head-on into a pickup pulling a trailer. Witnesses said Ulwelling entered the highway from a northbound bus off ramp.

The trailer broke free and smashed into other vehicles. The Jeep kept going south and hit several vehicles before stopping on the center median.
