Lakewood police and West Metro Fire Rescue are investigating a double-fatal fire near 14th Avenue and Pierce Street tonight.

Crews were called the blaze at 6770 West 14th Ave. about 9 p.m., and after knocking down the flames, discovered two bodies inside, said Cindy Matthews, a spokeswoman for West Metro Fire Rescue.

A 9-1-1 caller who reported the fire indicated that someone might be inside the burning home, Matthews said, but she could not elaborate on who that caller was.

Investigators were just beginning their investigation, she said, so she could not comment on who the people might be, where they were in the home or how the fire started.

“We got the fire out pretty quickly, but at this point we can’t say where it started or what might have been a contributing factor,” she said.

The home is attached to eight other units, but none were damaged, she said.
