Fire investigators and law enforcement officials are trying to determine why and how two people found in a burning house died.
The two, likely a man and a woman, were found Tuesday night inside a burning home in the 6700 block of West 14th Avenue in Lakewood, said Steve Davis, a Lakewood Police Department spokesman. The fire started about 9 p.m.
Police have not positively identified the victims, but a neighbor said a woman lived in the single-story, brick row house just off Pierce Street.
Paula Hernandez, who lives nearby, said she heard the woman whose home burned arguing with a boyfriend shortly before the fire broke out. Hernandez said she felt confident the bodies inside the home were the woman who had lived there and her boyfriend.
