A 35-year-old Fort Lupton woman has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide, police said.

Angelica Bujanda was arrested Saturday after she allegedly made an illegal U-turn on southbound U.S. 85 about one mile north of Brighton, the Weld County district attorney’s office said in a media release.

Bujanda’s vehicle was hit by an oncoming car, killing the driver of the car.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, Bujanda was driving south in a 2004 Kia Sorento carrying two passengers when she tried to make a U-turn at about 12:40 p.m. The Kia was hit from behind by a 1987 Honda Accord driven by Crystal Herman, 32, of Brighton.

Herman was pronounced dead at the scene, about 4 miles south of Fort Lupton. The Kia’s passengers — 13-year-old Alexis Trujillo and 7-year-old Ashley Salayandia, both of Fort Lupton — sustained moderate injuries.

Bujanda also has been charged with driving with a revoked license, driving under the influence and turning without signaling, police said.

Bujanda is being held at the Weld County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 31.
