A broken finger on quarterback Jon Eastman’s non-throwing hand isn’t expected to keep the junior college transfer out of the mix for long.

CSU coach Steve Fairchild said today Eastman could take some snaps in Saturday’s scrimmage.

Eastman participated in most of spring ball with a carefully wrapped non-throwing hand after having surgery. Fairchild said this was a different injury when Eastman fell in practice Tuesday.

Grant Stucker is the only completely healthy quarterback with Klay Kubiak still healing from spring shoulder surgery and freshman Nico Ranieri limited with a possible hernia.

Meanwhile, reserve defensive lineman Eugene Daniels was released from Poudre Valley Hospital this afternoon. Daniels was hospitalized late Thursday afternoon with heat-related symptoms following a standard afternoon practice.

CSU sports information director Zak Gilbert said he didn’t know if Daniels would return for Saturday’s scrimmage. Daniels is a 6-3, 240-pound third-year sophomore from Fort Hood, Texas.
