“Healthy Highways: The Traveler’s Guide to Healthy Eating” ($19.95, Ceres Press) should be in the glove compartment of any serious road tripper who also is a vegetarian or strives to eat organic, natural or healthy foods while traveling. Nikki and David Goldbeck have compiled the basic information for many of the major grocery stores and eateries around the country that purvey those items, including pubs and wine bars, co-ops and street carts. The entries include simple driving directions and whether the place offers alcohol, is self-serve or has waitstaff, hours and its state of vegetarian-ness, such as vegan options or if it has a salad bar.
