BRUSH — What’s a race with no competition? The small town of Brush in northeastern Colorado is considering scrapping its municipal election because none of the candidates has a challenger.
Mayor Dan Scalise and three City Council seats are up for election this fall in the town of about 5,000 people in Morgan County.
Scalise and two of the council members have no opponents for re-election. One of the council seats is open because of term limits, and that open race has one candidate.
The City Council planned to debate canceling the election today.
