BRUSH, Colo.—What’s a race with no competition? The small town of Brush in northeastern Colorado is considering scrapping this year’s municipal election because none of the candidates has a challenger.

Mayor Dan Scalise and three city council seats are up for election this fall in Brush, a town of about 5,000 in Morgan County.

Scalice and two of the council members have no opponents for re-election. One of the council seats is open because of term limits, but that open race has only one candidate.

The Brush City Council planned to debate the idea of canceling the municipal election at its Monday meeting.
