The Colorado Children’s Campaign board of directors has named Chris Watney to head the organization.
Watney, who has been with the organization for more than five years and has been serving as interim president since May, was chosen from a large group of candidates, said Katherine Gold, board chairwoman. She wouldn’t identify others considered for the job.
Watney, 39, became interim director in May after Megan Ferland stepped down to become president and CEO of the Girl Scouts of Colorado.
Watney has worked as spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Justice under Attorneys General Janet Reno and John Ashcroft. She is chairwoman of the board at West Denver Preparatory Charter School and has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas and a master’s from the University of Northern Colorado.
