Four people were arrested this morning after a short chase on C-470 ended when a stolen car crashed.

A Colorado trooper patrolling at about 7:30 a.m. near C-470 and West Quincy Avenue in Jefferson County tried to stop a car for speeding but the driver kept going, said Trooper Ryan Sullivan, a State Patrol spokesman.

Another trooper ahead of the pursuit put out a stop stick near West Bowles Avenue, Sullivan said, and the driver swerved to avoid the stick and lost control, hitting another vehicle.

Two people in the car, a stolen Toyota Camry, were taken into custody at the scene, and two others fled the vehicle on foot but were caught nearby a short time later, Sullivan said.

No one was injured in the incident.

Stolen items and a hand gun were found inside the vehicle, Sullivan said.

The four, who were not identified, are being held as investigators go over evidence, the flight and the accident.

Charges, including auto theft, are pending, Sullivan said.
