GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found by hikers on the Uncompahgre (un-kum-PAW’-gray) Plateau south of Grand Junction.
The man’s name and the cause of death haven’t been released. An autopsy was planned.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department says hikers found the body Wednesday on BLM land on the plateau. A search and rescue team recovered the body Thursday.
The sheriff’s department says the body doesn’t appear to be associated with any missing-persons report.
