At the Movies

A grim tale

The grim reaper stalks his prey in “Final Destination: Death Trip 3D,” the tale of teenagers who evade a deadly accident after the appropriately named Nick has a spooky vision and helps them escape in the nick of time. Can they cheat death? R. 1 hour, 22 minutes.

Blood brother

Murderous Michael’s sister tries to escape his homicidal ways in “Halloween 2,” but (trick or treat!) he goes the distance to bestow Halloween surprises on the entire family. R. 1 hour, 41 minutes.

Homebodies

Growth (and) hormones

Take one geeky but well-balanced high-school grad desperate for a summer job, add one keen but disaffected young woman, mix in an assortment of wacky sidekicks, employ them at an amusement park, and watch the high jinks ensue. “Adventureland,” out now on DVD, is smart and sweet. R.

Trust is a must

Julia Roberts and Clive Owen star as dueling corporate spies who dance around romance in “Duplicity,” out now on DVD. Will they trust each other enough to pull off the ultimate con job? PG-13.
