ASPEN — Aspen schools are a little embarrassed after a high school English teacher noticed a grammar typo in the school district’s mission statement.
The mission statement was missing a verb. It read, “Students will realize their full potential, appreciate the relevance of their education, be excited to learn, and empowered for success.”
The last clause needed the word “be.”
School districts in Colorado are required to adopt a mission statement. The Aspen school board decided last week to add the missing verb to its mission statement. Now students in Aspen will “be empowered for success.”
