HELENA, Mont. — A state lawmaker was at the helm of the speedboat that crashed into the rocky Flathead Lake shore — a serious accident that hospitalized five, including U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg, a family spokesman said Saturday.
Rehberg’s office shed more light on the Thursday crash, including the severity of the injuries suffered by two staffers on the boat. One, state director Dustin Frost, has a serious but “survivable” head injury and is under the care of a neurosurgeon, said Rehberg friend and former staff chief Erik Iverson.
The boat was owned and driven by Kalispell Republican state Sen. Greg Barkus, who was said to be up and about.
