The Federal Aviation Administration has approved a plan that would require Southwest to replace unapproved parts installed on about 40 B-737s.
An FAA statement released Tuesday said the jets may continue flying but must be inspected once a week until the fixes — fittings that help protect aircraft flaps from engine heat — are made.
Southwest also must dispose of any other unapproved parts made by the vendor, D-Velco. Post staff and news services
