The lights are on, and high school football is in full gear. Stadiums across the state were lit up Friday night as the nine-month offseason finally ended.

From the small towns on the Eastern Plains to the communities on the Western Slope and the big-school stadiums along the Front Range, fans kicked off their Labor Day weekend with prep football on a superb September evening.

Players weren’t the only ones putting on their game faces. What happens between the hash marks is just a part of the electricity of Friday night at the stadium. Parents, siblings and friends help bring the excitement of prep football to a fever pitch.
