GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A father of six children pleaded guilty to a charge in the death of his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter.
Thirty-four-year-old Charles McEachern pleaded guilty Friday to child abuse resulting in death. He faces up to 32 years in prison at sentencing Nov. 16.
Authorities say McEachern was baby-sitting Miranda Baca in June 2006 while her mother, McEachern’s girlfriend at the time, was at work. Miranda was later taken to a hospital and died that day.
An autopsy indicated she died from blunt force trauma to the head. McEachern was arrested in Arvada, more than a year after Miranda’s death.
