Hey, Dodgers! We’re hot on your trail, just a few games behind you doods. So if we end up playing you again, watch your back and stop dissing Denver.
Seems when the team was in town at the end of August (they won two out of three, dagnabbit), post-game broadcaster Ken Levine didn’t have such a great time.
In his blog, he writes: “Stayed at the Ritz-Carlton hotel downtown (or, as they call it — ‘LoDo’). I had a beautifully appointed room with a spectacular view of the Greyhound Bus Terminal. (How convenient for all the bus travelers that there is a Ritz-Carlton across the street so they have somewhere to crash before moving on to Utah.)
“Was walking distance to the 16th Street Mall, where red oak trees and fountains line this showpiece pedestrian mall featuring a thousand Verizon and AT&T stores and great local dining from Chili’s to the Cheesecake Factory.
“. . . Traffic is still backed up from last year’s Democratic convention. And there are still people walking to their cars after attending Obama’s acceptance speech.
“And if you’re driving from ‘LoDo’ to the I-70 with kids and you’re looking for a fun thing for them to do, have them count the number of gun shops they see. The kinder will be occupied the entire trip!”
And downtown Los Angeles is such an urban showcase.
Pow! Wow!

Hey, handsome.
Football fans are buzzing about a study by Ursinus College associate prof Jennifer VanGilder that ranks NFL quarterbacks on how handsome they are — along with the supposition that better-looking QBs are better QBs.
The Atlanta Falcons’ Matt Ryan is the best looking (VanGilder bases her ranking on facial symmetry). Other top-ranked pretty boys include Tom Brady, Brett Favre and Matt Hasselbeck.
The Broncos’ Kyle Orton comes in 20th despite what the Orange County Register says is “some bad facial hair choices (he was rocking a neck beard for a while).”
But dopey-looking former Broncos QB Jay Cutler beats him out at 13. “Handsome cred: He dated Julia Allison, a well known dating columnist.”
City spirit.
