Harry Johnson of Edwards shot a 1-under-par 71 on Thursday to grab the second-round lead at the Colorado Golf Association Senior Stroke Championship at Cornerstone Club in Montrose.

Johnson takes a two-stroke advantage over three players heading into today’s final round.

• The Colorado State men’s golf team shot an even-par 864 to finish third at the Topy Cup in Tanagura, Japan, with Zakhai Brown finishing in a tie for third at 3-under 213 and Riley Arp one stroke back in fifth place. Washington, ranked No. 2, won the event at 856, becoming the second U.S. school to win the event in the last six years.

Mammoth drafts three DU players.

The Colorado Mammoth used its top three selections in the National Lacrosse League entry draft on University of Denver players, starting with forward Cliff Smith with the fourth pick in the first round.

Smith had 14 points in 13 games last season. One choice later, the Mammoth selected forward Alex Gajic, who had 22 points for the Pioneers last season and is the brother of current Mammoth player Nenad Gajic.

In the second round, selected Brad Richardson, who scored 45 points in 52 college games. The team’s final choice was Denver native Rocco Romero of Cornell.
