Commerce City police today arrested Annette Mascarenas, 44, of Adams County in connection with a hit and run accident that seriously injured 17-year-old Arron Hernandez Tuesday night.
Investigators received a tip that led to the arrest, and then linked Mascarenas’ sport-utility vehicle to the accident that occurred in the 7400 block of Brighton Boulevard about 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Mascarenas was arrested at about 3:45 p.m. today.
She faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury and careless driving resulting in injury. Her vehicle has been impounded, police said.
Mascarenas’ arrest record includes several traffic offenses, including drunken driving, speeding, driving with a suspended license and violating a domestic-abuse restraining order.
Hernandez continues to recover at Denver Health Medical Center from broken bones and a brain injury.
