VAIL, Colo.—A forester says fall colors in the Vail Valley probably won’t suffer from a wetter-than-normal summer.

Cary Green of the U.S. Forest Service in Minturn says moisture can affect fall color in aspen trees, but stress from previous droughts can also be a factor.

Green says leaves on drought-stressed aspens could turn brown and drop before they change color, but that shouldn’t be widespread.

Green says it should be a normal year for color in the valley.
