Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper has chosen Jim Sestrich as the new fire chief, two people familiar with the selection said.
Sestrich is a District Chief in charge of District Four in East Denver. He will replace the Fire Chief Nick Nuanes, who is retiring.
Sestrich was a deputy chief when Larry Trujillo was the fire chief. He became the interim chief when Trujillo retired.
