A 2-year-old girl was flown to Denver last night with serious injuries after a car crash in Pueblo in which her mother was allegedly driving drunk.

The child, whose name was not released, was unrestrained in the rollover crash, which occurred shortly before 11 p.m. in south central Pueblo, according to a news release from the Pueblo Police Department.

Her mother, who was driving, Darla Rodriguez, suffered minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

A police news release said Rodriguez was speeding northbound on Interstate 25 just north of Central Avenue in the middle of the dashed divider lines when she lost control, over-corrected and went off the road. The 1996 Saturn coupe hit a concrete wall before rolling over.

The girl’s unsecured car seat was in the back of the car.
