COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—El Paso County authorities say a decomposed body found near a highway is that of a man who was shot to death.
Sheriff spokeswoman Lt. Lari Sevene says authorities initially thought the body belonged to an animal and not a man because it was so decomposed. She says clothing near the area helped investigator’s determine it was a man.
A resident in unincorporated El Paso County alerted authorities about the body off of Highway 115 Friday evening.
Sevene says she could not say how long the body had been at the scene.
