DENVER—Former Denver Mayor Wellington Webb has been nominated as an ambassador to the United Nations.
Webb is one of three people selected to serve as a public delegate to help the U.S. mission at the U.N. He was in New York Tuesday on the floor of the U.N. as President Barack Obama spoke about climate change.
Webb told The Denver Post that he went to New York last week to get his credentials for his post. His title until he is confirmed is senior adviser to the State Department.
Webb served three terms as Denver’s mayor, from 1991 to 2003. He is chief executive of Webb International, a consulting firm he started after leaving the mayor’s office.
