Traffic on Interstate 76 in Adams County will be detoured for three nights, starting tonight, to install girders for new bridges over Colorado Highway 224 and over a rail line about a mile away.
Work will depend on the weather, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Work affecting westbound lanes will take place between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. each day. Detours at 88th Avenue will be posted.
On Thursday, eastbound lanes of I-76 will close at midnight and reopen at 5 a.m. Friday.
Colorado Highway 224 will be closed Wednesday and Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., with marked detours beginning at Dahlia Street.
Traffic fines will be doubled in the area.
The $11 million project is funded with federal stimulus dollars. The new bridges are schedule for completion by January 2011.
