DENVER—Carlos Gonzalez left the Colorado Rockies’ game Tuesday night against San Diego with a tight left hamstring.
Gonzalez, who led off the bottom of the first inning with a standup triple and scored on a balk, was replaced in left field in the bottom of the second inning by Seth Smith, who doubled and scored in his first at-bat.
The game-time temperature was 48 degrees and it appeared Gonzalez was removed as a precautionary measure.
Manager Jim Tracy had wanted to give Smith the night off so he could regain his hitting stroke.
