Stephanie Sherlock shot an even-par 72 in a rainy final round at Highlands Ranch Golf Club as the University of Denver golfer finished a two-round rally to win the Ron Moore Intercollegiate on Wednesday.

Sherlock carded a 1-under-par 215 to earn medalist honors, edging Cal-Davis’ Alice Kim by one stroke. Sherlock on Tuesday shot a 3-under 69 to jump into a tie with Baylor’s Hannah Burke atop the leaderboard. Burke finished third at 218. DU’s Kimberly Kim was four shots back in fourth place.

The Pioneers, ranked fifth nationally, won the team title, 14 shots ahead of Cal-Davis. It was DU’s sixth consecutive victory at the Ron Moore. Wyoming was eighth; Northern Colorado ended in 12th.

DU’s Jackson likely out for season.

DU hockey player Dustin Jackson, who broke his right leg last week during a scrimmage, will likely miss the upcoming season after surgery on the leg, the team said. The junior forward played in 75 games for the Pioneers in his first two seasons.

Mines quarterback Pesek honored.

The American Football Coaches Association named Colorado Mines quarterback David Pesek to the prestigious Good Works team Tuesday. Pesek is one of 22 players whittled down from a list of 106 nominees. The award, in its 18th year, honors college football players with outstanding contributions in volunteerism and civic involvement. Pesek was joined on the team by Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, among others.

Pioneers rally to beat Bears.

Emmy Davidsmeyer notched a career-high 26 kills to lead DU’s volleyball team to a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over visiting Northern Colorado late Tuesday night. DU rallied in the final three games to win 16-25, 24-26, 25-22, 25-16 and 15-13. The Pioneers (5-9) have won their last four matches against Northern Colorado (8-6).
