Doug Talley has a strange claim to make to his insurance company. The family swimming pool was damaged by a wandering elk.
Talley’s son was headed off to bed last weekend when he heard splashing outside. It turns out a large bull elk was in the water in the deep end. He had fallen through the pool cover.
The family called 911. Wildlife officers came to the Genesee home. The swimming-pool cover had to be cut away, and the elk was nudged into the shallow end so he could get out.
The elk hung around for about a half an hour then went on his way. He was fine. The pool didn’t fare as well.
