Oregon never offered a money-back guarantee.
To Oregon alum Tony Seminary, it didn’t matter. So disgusted with the Ducks’ 19-8 loss at Boise State and tailback LaGarrette Blount’s fight afterward, Seminary sent first-year coach Chip Kelly an invoice, demanding $439 in travel expenses.
Seminary got more than his point across. He got his money back. Kelly sent him a check for the $439.
So astounded with Kelly’s honesty, Seminary sent back the check along with a thank-you note.
“I think of Coach Kelly as a totally different person now,” Seminary said, according to the website . “I have a different bond with him now. . . . Let’s just say he lost every game as an Oregon coach. You never hear me calling for his head. It just wouldn’t happen. The guy showed an incredible amount of class.”
Kelly had no comment.
