George Karl said Thursday he has not been offered a contract extension from the Nuggets, following a season in which Denver reached the Western Conference finals.
Karl has one season remaining on his current contract, and it appeared at the beginning of the summer that he would get an extension. Karl has previously said he would love to end his career as Denver’s coach.
“I’m looking forward to getting back out on the court,” he said. “I’m humbled being one of 30 (NBA head coaches).”
The Nuggets were 54-28 last season and have their top five scorers returning.
“As in the case with all contracts with coaches, I feel they deserve my silence,” Nuggets vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien said Thursday.
