Kristen Diane Parker, the 26-year-old former surgery technician charged with stealing painkillers and exposing patients at two hospitals to hepatitis C, is reportedly seeking a plea deal.

Denver TV station CBS4 reported Thursday night that Parker has asked for a hearing so she can plead guilty and avoid her upcoming trial.

The terms of the alleged plea deal were not reported.

Parker was arrested this summer and faces 19 counts each of tampering and illegally obtaining a controlled substance.

She admitted to investigators that she injected powerful painkillers meant for surgery patients and exposed them to hepatitis C.

She was fired from Rose Medical Center in Denver after about six months on the job for failing a drug test, then went to work at Audubon Surgery Center in Colorado Springs.

Thousands of patients who had surgery during her tenure at the two facitilies were tested, about three dozen were infected.
