NEW YORK — Prosecutors have urged a judge to sentence former Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu to 30 years to life for violating campaign- finance laws.
The government said Hsu deserves a lengthy sentence for defrauding hundreds of investors out of more than $50 million in a Ponzi scheme and for manipulating campaign- finance laws to enhance his public profile and further bolster investor confidence in his financial fraud. He is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday.
